How It Works

You may be wondering what exactly a herdshare is.

A cow herdshare is a cooperative arrangement that allows people to access fresh milk from a cow without having to own a cow themselves. In this setup, individuals buy shares in a herd, meaning they contribute financially to the care and upkeep of the cow(s) managed by a farmer. When you purchase a share, it gives you a portion of the milk produced by that cow. This model is beneficial for those who seek high-quality, often raw milk that is sourced locally. By participating in a herdshare, members support local agriculture and enjoy the advantages of fresh, nutritious milk while sharing the responsibilities and costs associated with caring for the cows.
